I am on my way to Białowieża Forest in eastern Poland to meet with collaborators on the KlimaVeg project and start analysing some of the project data. I have taken a detour to the Tatra Mountains, a compact calcareous range on Poland’s southern border.
I am used to the English Lake District, but the Tatras are much busier. Zakopane (which has night trains from the far corners of Poland), makes Bowness look like a ghost town.
